Following its extremely successful launch
last winter, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the second
edition of RoadSafe, the publication that aims to unite current thinking
and best practice on road safety issues.
Our organisation is a partnership of leading companies in the motor
and transport industries in Britain, the government and road safety
professionals, all of whose aim is to promote safer driving and reduce
the unacceptable blight of deaths and injuries caused by road accidents.
It is not just good advice that is needed to reduce casualties: products
devoted to reducing risk play a huge part, too. Manufacturers of vehicles
and traffic control systems alike have come up with a veritable army
of devices that not only lessen the chance of injury when an crash
occurs, but actually help to avoid the collision in the first place.
In this issue, our special round-up takes a closer look the latest
safety features – and there are some surprises. From lights
that help drivers see around corners to cars that can predict a collision
before it happens, motor manufacturers are making full use of fast-moving
technology to improve safety like never before. You will also find
details of the recent Euro NCAP results.
Covering all the latest in safety issues, I am sure you will find
this an invaluable addition to your bookshelf.
