Safety first ... puncture protection

Protex UK's intelligent puncture protection system can increase vehicle safety, keep a fleet mobile and significantly reduce service, maintenance and repair costs

Protex is recommended pre-requisite in all UK wheelchair-adapted vehicles
”Protex brings SMR savings and tyre safety to drivers and fleets for many national companies within the private and public sector“
Consumers and fleets alike are set to benefit from Protex tyre sealant, which will enhance the impending Duty of Care legislation, reduce service, maintenance and repair (SMR) costs and slash rates of punctures and related accidents. Emerging legislation designed to ensure companies provide a duty of care to their staff looks set to encompass safety issues in vehicles. Many fleet owners and operators are realising that unexpected punctures not only provide a safety hazard for drivers and passengers, but the associated downtime costs – such as missed appointments, late deliveries and unfulfilled obligations – can run into thousands of pounds. However, companies can protect against unexpected punctures by installing the revolutionary Protex Tyre Sealant into all their vehicles. Protex can be installed into vehicles by a Protex-qualified mobile installer on site, or alternatively, a member of personnel at the fleet company can be trained to install the formula as a Protex agent.

This unique puncture protection system is designed for use in all pneumatic tyres, ranging from cars and lorries to agricultural and earth moving equipment. Designed to permanently seal* punctures, this solution is installed into the tyre before a puncture occurs and will seal a puncture made from a penetrating object of up to 6mm diameter in on-road vehicles, and 15mm diameter in slow-moving permanent off-road vehicles. Protex has been speed tested up to 150 miles per hour, will not cause wheel imbalance, and the seal is impervious to water. An installation carried out by a trained Protex installer applies a measured amount of the Protex Tyre Sealant formula through the valve core. When installed, Protex coats the inner tread area of the tyre, which is possible, not because it contains any adhesives, but because of the unique combination of ingredients in their highly viscose liquid/paste state that spreads evenly over the inner tread area.

This even coating, brought about by the wheels rotating and the resultant centrifugal forces coming into play, combined with the pressure in the tyres, means that when a penetrating object causes a puncture through the tread of the tyre, Protex is forced into the puncture; the resulting chemical reaction immediately seals the hole as a permanent repair for the legal life of the tyre. Protex brings SMR savings and tyre safety to drivers and fleets for many national companies within the private and public sector, from waste vehicles and mobility fleets, through to police forces and delivery services. The intelligent sealant system is available to commercial and domestic markets worldwide.

The story so far

“Protex™ has been developed over many years to become the next generation of puncture sealant for pneumatic tyres. Protex is speed rated to 150 mph and is a biodegradable, natural, micro-fibre product that will not affect wheel balance and permanently seals punctures for the legal life of the tyre”

Protex Solutions Ltd – The Manufacturer

This international product, Protex Tyre Sealant, was brought to the UK 18 months ago by Protex UK Sales Ltd. Success has never come at such an affordable price: the last two years have demonstrated how effectively the belief and expertise of two professional businessmen, plus a marketing-led business strategy, can develop a new market and establish a successful leading product in a relatively short space of time. Protex is quickly becoming a highly-recognised and trusted brand, as well as receiving huge acclaim throughout the domestic, mobility, fleet and automotive market places. The consumer market is booming, with Protex bringing safety solutions to lone women drivers or cars carrying children. People with disabilities enjoy the peace of mind that they will not be stranded by the side of a fast motorway trapped in their vehicle awaiting recovery services. Following the Motability accreditation of the Protex product, the sealant is a recommended pre-requisite in all UK mobility wheelchair-adapted vehicles. The single consumer scenarios are vast with Protex helping individuals every day get to places on time, reducing costs for tyre repair and providing safety. Additionally, the market for car dealerships supplying the product to their customers as an add-on to their vehicles sales as a safety product is ever-increasing.

The other side of the business reflects fleet managers utilising the benefits of Protex for their vehicles and this is an ever-growing market. Protex (UK) Sales Ltd’s account management structure is in place to fulfil our clients’ needs. This structure offers:

  • Professional product installations and installations support
  • Professional and effective customer account management
  • Vehicle and installation audit trail
“Protex helps individuals every day get to places on time, reducing costs for tyre repair and providing safety”

By being safety conscious and efficiency conscious, Protex can help increase vehicle safety, increase fuel efficiency, increase tyre life and contribute to the overall productivity of a business whilst helping provide a duty of care for the staff. As Protex customers range from single-vehicle owner operators, through to national fleets – as well as onward sales providers – Protex UK has developed a well-planned, professionally-implemented national infrastructure. Our entire business is focused on servicing the client. For the consumer market, our head office provides Protex customers with high levels of customer service and support systems, all just a phone call away. On fleet national accounts, every client is allocated to a dedicated account manager whose role is to be a single source for all help, guidance and information and to act as a personal consultant on a day-to-day basis, organising and implementing Protex Tyre Sealant supply and installations when required and providing consistent, updated information on new products and services. Protex Tyre Sealant can be installed into even the largest fleets quickly and effectively, wherever vehicles are located in the country. Because the company operates nationally, vehicles don’t have to be pooled in regional locations.

Punctures and blowouts can be highly dangerous and costly as well as inconvenient. By installing Protex into a vehicle, the risk of high maintenance costs, downtime, missed appointments and even casualties can be eliminated

The Protex UK (PUKL) commitment to the medium and long-term business plan will continue to see Protex as the market leader, to provide the most revolutionary product and highest levels of service to all UK and Ireland customers as a highly recognised and successful brand. PUKL has developed a countrywide infrastructure to ensure that our customer base of retail customers, single-vehicle owner operators, national fleets and onward sales providers can be serviced on site, on demand to our stringent high standards. Therefore, with the UK and Ireland infrastructure that is in place, the company culture focuses dynamically on the customer and account management to ensure complete product and service satisfaction to all fleet and individual Protex clients.
