A new partnership
|
| Steven Norris,
Chairman, RoadSafe |
Welcome to the Winter edition of RoadSafe,
a new publication that aims to unite current thinking and best practice
on road safety issues.
RoadSafe itself is a new road safety partnership of leading companies
in the motor and transport industries in Britain, the government and
road safety professionals, all of whose aim is to promote safer driving
and reduce the unacceptable blight of deaths and injuries caused by
road accidents.
Fortunately, many businesses in Britain are now taking road safety
seriously. In many ways this is not before time, given that between
25 and 30% of the 3,500 fatalities occurring on our roads each year
are likely to be work-related.
As employers begin to look seriously at the idea that safety behind
the wheel is as important as safety on the factory floor, there is
an urgent need for good quality advice on how to reduce occupational
road risk as a key component of corporate social responsibility.
This first edition of RoadSafe is dedicated to that topic.
It provides vital information on how to manage the risk of accidents
faced by staff whether they drive company vehicles or their own private
vehicles for work purposes.
I hope you find it useful. |
