Navman ICN 320 GPS

In our Product Testing series, Roadsafe analyses some of the latest innovations to hit the market

“Programming addresses is a simple operation, by putting in a street, town or postcode, even points of interest”

This sleek in-car satellite navigation device has plenty of features allowing you to navigate with ease and is ready from the moment the box is opened. The unit has two antennae that open out and there is also a memory card that contains atlas map data, giving street level coverage for the UK and Ireland.

The memory card slots into the side of the unit, activating the on-screen instructions. There is no keypad as such or a touch screen, just a series of buttons to help navigate. Programming addresses is a simple operation, by putting in a street, town or postcode, even points of interest. There is also a “favourites” to record recent trips and places of interest.

Navman has a map area of 2cm² and graphics that are neat, tidy and uncomplicated. The high-resolution colour screen makes the easy-to-follow map visually friendly. The unit has a clear voice command – you can choose whether it is male or female – which is heard through its loudspeakers.

The unit is mounted on the windscreen for easy viewing of your current speed, distance to turnoffs and the current time. You can even take it with you when leaving the car. Overall, the Navman performs very well and it is an attractive driving aid.
